Welcome to our cookbook / food blog.  This all started out as a printable pdf cookbook that we released on New Years Day 2007.  For lack of a better title, we just called it the New Years Cookbook.  Here’s a link to the 2007 version.  Because we had thrown it together in a hurry while visiting family out of town, it was fraught with typos and serious ingredient omissions.  A year later, we released a new an improved version, the NewYears Cookbook 2008, which you can download here.

Well, it is now 2009 and we’ve decided to get with the times.  No one really prints this book anyway, right? (Comment if you do.. we’re dying to know).  So we thought that a simple web-based format would be best.. using a domain name that’s easy to remember (cook47 dot com!!!… more about the name later), and a user-friendly look and feel (thank you wordpress), searchable, commentable, categorizable, tagable (none of these last four things are actually words, but you get the idea)….

Why cook47.com, you ask? Hmmm… I don’t know.  It was the only domain name left in the universe that has anything to do with cooking and doesn’t end in co.uk or .info or .mobi or something crazy like that.

Actually, we thought it was nice and short, and it summarized what we do here on a daily basis — we cook for seven…. seven people that is.  Okay, okay — I must admit that we’re not actually cooking for all 7 of us just yet, since two of the 7 are only 1 month old.
